Safety Town

Q. How do I register my teen to volunteer and what are the age requirements?
A. Registration for 2013 will open May 11th at 12:00pm. We ask that teen volunteers currently be entering 8th grade or higher in Fall 2013. It is important that your teen take direction well, is interested in being a leader, and enjoys being with little children.   There will be a non-refundable $10 registration fee for teen volunteers.

Q. How many volunteer hours can my teen earn per session of Safety Town?
A. Your teen will earn 10 volunteer hours for each session. The last day of your teen’s session, they will receive a certificate of completion with the amount of hours served.

Q. What is the maximum amount of sessions my teen can volunteer for?
A. We ask that your teen only register to volunteer for one session. If your teen is interested in volunteering for more sessions, please email safety_town@att.net and include the additional date(s) your teen is available to volunteer.

Q. What are the dates and times of the Naperville Junior Woman's Club 2013 Safety Town Summer Program?
A. 2013 Summer Session Dates/Times are as follows:
Sessions 1-3: June 3-7, 8:15-10:15am, 10:15-12:15pm, or 12:15-2:15pm
Sessions 4-6: June 10-14,8:15-10:15am, 10:15-12:15pm, or 12:15-2:15pm
Sessions 7-9: June 17-21, 8:15-10:15am, 10:15-12:15pm, or 12:15-2:15pm
Sessions 10-12: June 24-28, 8:15-10:15am, 10:15-12:15pm, or 12:15-2:15pm
Sessions 13-15: July 8-12, 8:15-10:15am, 10:15-12:15pm, or 12:15-2:15pm
Sessions 16-17: July 15-19, 8:15-10:15am, or 10:15-12:15pm
Sessions 18-19: July 22-26, 8:15-10:15am, 10:15-12:15pm, or 12:15-2:15pm

Q. Is there any training required to become a teen volunteer?
A. If you have never volunteered for Naperville Safety Town, you are required to attend a one hour training session.

Q. I'm interested in more information about becoming a Team Captain, what are the requirements and how do I apply?
A. Team Captains are volunteers who are peer leaders to the teen leaders and help lead the children through the week-long camp. Team Captains receive 40 hours of volunteer hours and are expected to attend a three hour training session. We ask that Team Captains have volunteered for two summers and are entering Junior Year in the Fall of 2013. If you feel you are a qualified candidate, please fill out the below application and mail to Safety Town.  Applications must be received NO LATER THAN APRIL 15TH
